A Month of Birthdays

We started out by celebrating Karaline’s 5th birthday on March 26 with a Barbie themed extravaganza!

We invited friends from church and dance class to this girls only party!  Everyone brought their Barbies and we had a Barbie fashion show (complete with lights and runway), made paper dolls with glitter, gems, and sparkles, watched Barbie:  A Fairy Secret, and ate cherry chip cake and Neapolitan ice cream.

Then, a week later, we celebrated Andy’s big 40!

Friends and family turned out at Brooklyn’s to celebrate this momentous occasion!  The big surprise was the 40 inch TV that was a group effort to buy!

During this busy birthday month, Cody made a new discovery – BALLOONS!  He LOVES THEM!!

I am so completely amazed that my little girl turned 5 last month.  Some words to describe her!

K – Kind:  Pastor Jim & Miss Kristi told us a few months ago about how you befriended a lonely girl at Children’s Church; sitting next to her, asking her questions, and being friendly.  You treat everyone like you would like to be treated and make friends everywhere you go.

A – Artistic:  You love to color, cut, glitter, and glue.  You put love into every creation you make!  I love crafting and creating with you.

R – Ready for Kindergarten:  The last few weeks, you have really taken off with your reading!  You always want to practice your letters, play school, an most recently read the phonics stories on www.starfall.com.  I see so much of myself in you.

A – Amazing Big Sister:  You love your little brother with all your heart and are always willing to lend a hand to play with, read to, sing to, or even feed him to help out your ol’ mom and dad!

L – Little Lady:  You love PINK, lacy, girly, twirly clothes, dolls, Barbies, bling, dance class, and jewelry, but you also aren’t afraid to get a little dirty and dusty at T-Ball!

I – Inquisitive.  You are always asking how something works, why something is, or what something means.  You are always open to learning something new.

N – GeNerous:    For your birthday, we bought you several outfits so that your friends could dress up their Barbie dolls and put on a fashion show.  When it was time to go, you whispered to me “Can all my friends take home a cloe (your word for a singular piece of clothing)?”  I said, “Well, they are your clothes, so it is your choice.”  You wanted all of your friends to have a new cloe to remember your party.  I even asked if you wanted to choose one first since you were the birthday girl.  To which you responded, “No, my friends can choose first.”  All of the moms’s jaws dropped and I tried not to cry.  How did you turn out so well?

E – Energetic:  You never slow down and HATE to nap (unless you accidently fall asleep in the car!).

Circus Fun

Grandma, PawPaw, Karaline, Cody, Kristina, & Andy all enjoyed the Shrine Circus this past weekend.  We had great seats – ROW C at the Intrust Bank Arena.  We found out by accident that in section 103 (our section) you get to order your food and drink have it brought to you!

Karaline loved the acrobats, clowns, and riding an elephant!

Cody’s favorite thing was the VERY LOUD motorcycles.

The highlight for me was watching Karaline and Cody watch the circus!

Andy probably won’t admit it, but he loved meeting Scooby before the show!

Cody 11 months

Stats:  27.4  lbs,  32 ish inches  So did NOT want to be measured this morning!

What You’re Wearing: 24 months, mostly 2T, size 4 diaper

Firsts: crawling FAST on all fours, cruising around the furniture

Head to Toe: you probably need a haircut, but we are holding off until you are ONE!  You are our little shark with your 8 teeth!

Loves: standing, balls, balloons, and cars

Dislikes:  not standing up, getting teeth

Eating: LOVES anything he can feed himself!  You love Gerber meat sticks!

Sleeping: Still a good sleeper.  You and daddy have gotten into a routine of rocking before bed.  I am not sure if he is rocking you to sleep or if it is the other way around.  Either way, it gets the job done.  You are the cutest little sleeper.  Always on your tummy, with your knees up under you and your little bottom up in the air.  Mommy calls it “the inchworm”.  Smile
