Nugget Bowl–Yes, I Said Nugget Bowl

Our K-State Pride was shining (with NO EXCESSIVE CELEBRATING) during the Pinstripe Bowl – see all the little Wildcats below!

But I am guessing that you all did not know about a lesser bowl game that occurred earlier in the week – the Magnusson/Scott/Barrett Nugget Bowl.  Yes, I said nugget bowl.  Only in my family would the patriarch and his son go foraging for 204 chicken McNuggets and assorted sauces.

It all started with a comment about who would order the McDonalds 50 piece chicken McNuggets.  Jacob said that he was for sure he could eat 50.  To which Sam sensed a challenge and the idea for the Nugget Bowl was born.

When it was all said and done….

Sam had sense enough to stop eating before he was sick, but long after he realized McNuggets have no taste.

Andy and Jacob tied with 62 nuggets each.  Notice, Andy does not look as enthusiastic as he once did.

Karaline ate all 4 nuggets in her happy meal.

Cody hopes the challenge will be repeated next year when he has more teeth.

Happy “Snow” Day!

I am not sure if I will know how to complete a full week of work next week.

The first week back after the new year was a 3 day week with kids.  The following week, we had school on Monday, were out Tuesday and Wednesday for sub zero temperatures, back to school Thursday and Friday.  This week Monday was a holiday, Karaline was sick on Tuesday so I stayed home with her so Andy could go to job interviews, and then 3 days of school.

Don’t get me wrong,  I like a good snow day as much as the next guy – it afforded me the opportunity to scrapbook, play with the kids, and get stuff organized for my upcoming Crop*a*Ganza weekend!  However, days are getting slim between now and the State Math Assessment.  I am starting to get a little stressed about getting everyone where they need to be for the test.  One more missed and I will be forced to make house calls to my students to give them the work we missed!!

I guess it was all worth it to watch Andy and Karaline out playing in the snow and using our amazing Bob Sandifer wagon/sleigh!

Supposedly babies don’t get spoiled by being held a lot.  I beg to differ.  After 2 weeks of Christmas vacation and seeing various relatives and friends, we had some bad habits to break.  For the first week after Christmas vacation, you would cry every time we sat you down.  If we would bend down and put our hands on your back or sides  you were instantly better.  Finally, you are back to being content playing, crawling, and hanging out with sister!

Stats- Holding steady at 25lbs and 30 inches.

What You’re Wearing- 18 months, size 4 diapers

Firsts- Got your fourth tooth (second on the top), Christmas, New Year’s, K-State at the Pinstripe Bowl, and first snow!!!

You are army crawling everywhere with the occasional perch on all fours, you insist on holding your bottle, trying to feed yourself, and have not patience for begin treated like a baby.  You graduated to a bigger car seat.  We had a baby shower for Aunt Kelly, Uncle Sam, and Baby Cora.

From Head To Toe- your blonde hair is actually getting longish – maybe a trim around the ears soon?

Loves- playing with sister, listening to stories, riding in the car, knocking down blocks or stacking cups, being tickled, rolling and army crawling.

Dislikes- not having full control of his spoon!  5 – 7 p.m.

Eating – we’ve had a bit of a set back this month.  During Christmas break you were doing a great job of eating your baby food.  Now that we are back in school and having a normal routine, your lips are clamped shut unless you are in charge of the spoon.  You do much better with finger foods like wagon wheels, puffs, etc. that you can manipulate yourself.

Sleeping- Bedtime between 8 and 9 p.m.  Rise and shine between 7 and 8 a.m.
