A Soggy Celebration

This was the 40th anniversary for the Walnut Valley Festival.  The festival holds lots of special memories for our family.  Andy proposed to Kristina at Stage 1 in 2002 and Kristina surprised Andy with the news that she was pregnant in 2009.  Fill in the other years will lots of festival fun, food, and friends!

Sadly, this was not one of our best years.   The cool, colder, arctic like temperatures froze some of us (Karaline, Cody, and Kristina) out by early afternoon on Friday, and the showers, rain, monsoonlike downpour on Saturday delayed our arrival at the festival.  Then, Saturday night, we decided to high tail it out of the fairgrounds when the tornado warning was announced instead of risking the stampede that was bound to happen when everyone attempted to take shelter under the grandstand.  By Sunday, the fairgrounds were a giant mud pit, and thus our festival was not our most festive ever.

As you can see from the pictures above, there will still some enjoyable moments including wagon rides, cozy snuggles under blankets, corn stealing (by Cody), biscuits & gravy, and some general clowning around.

Here is hoping 41 is drier and warmer!
